Welcome to vatomerdevorah.org. Here you will find a collection of thoughts, insights and reflections along a secondary fertility journey and beyond, which I hope will enlighten and inspire. I originally thought to name this website “tomardevorah.org”, “the date palm of Deborah”. However, there was something about speech- “vatomer” that kept pulling me, until finally I changed the name. The Tomer Devorah represents life, fertility, uprightness and unity. I wanted this site to encompass all of those things. But there was something missing. The voice. During this fertility journey I’ve had the privilege of learning the words of Rabbi Nachman on an almost daily basis with a small group of women. Rabbi Nachman says that speech is inherently connected to fertility. He says that “unbinding the mouths of the mute unbinds the mouths of the barren”, and that the strength of speech effects Divine providence for barren women to bear children. So, the voice and the tree are inherently connected. In fact, when you say the words Vatomer Devorah, you can audibly hear the “Tomer Devorah”, the tree. That is my intention for this website, to be a voice drawing from this tree of fertility and blessing and sharing it with you, the reader.
